Pish posh don't listen to these people they have no clue what their talking about believe me i have 3 cockatiels 2 are females 1 is a male. Here are some signs to determine the sex:

Male's tend to be louder then females.

I suggest putting your bird in front of a mirror if your bird is sitting their and looking at itself and stays their for more then 1 Min you have a Male.

Be careful you don't hurt it. but gently lift it's wings and see if you have any spots under it it will be harder to tell if it's a pearl cockatiel but lutino's and Grey's are easier.if their are no spot's you have a boy if yellow light spots she's a girl

Last but not least If your bird is a grey, males tend to have more yellow around their face with dark red rosey cheeks females on the other hand have all grey around their face with a light red on their cheeks. Lutino's which are white and yellow.. Males have more yellow then white and females have more white then yellow.

Hopefully my advise helped you out.....

hi I'm a state certified bird specialist, to sex a cockatiel look at the under-side of it's tail feathers if they are striped then it's most likley a girl, if they are more subtle with striping or just a solid color then it's a boy

The sex of a tiel isn't always easy to determine just from looking at one. If you want to be certain of a tiel's sex, you should DNA sex it.
In general, male tiels are the ones who sing, have the ability to learn to talk, are vocal. Females chirp, but usually don't sing, don't learn to talk, and are less vocal. For grey tiels, the males' orange spot is a brighter orange color; females' orange spot is washed out/very dull in color. To be really sure you should DNA sex it.
