Well, for one.....most other countries dont provide the kind of liberties that we as Americans take for granted....in some places protesting could get you blacklisted for life and possibly killed....there are no holds barred in some of these countries...this is why many people flea to US to get away....also the economic opportunities in a capitalistic country like US are endless....these kind of opportunities may not exist in other countries as easily...often times there are social barriers, caste systems that are still existence so it may not be as easy to 'pull yourself up by the bootstraps' as it may appear in this country

And let me also mention that immigrants are largely discriminated against. taken advantage of in this country in terms of wages, living conditions, social stigmas, etc....So of course, if it were me I would also fight for my rights because the bottom line is after having travelled this far to the US and gone thru so much trouble to stay in this country, you definitely want equitable rights and treatment

It is just not fair to treat them any different than you would a nonimmigrant

Because the problem is not only that illegals cross over but that many American companies actively recruit them. We have a high standard of living and so many industries that require cheap labor can't get it -would you work for 10-12 hours in the hot sun for $20-$30 dollars and no benefits? It is amazing to me that we can't just deal with this honestly. Work it out so companies can legally hire workers for those industries that are dependant on them; after that we punish companies that still hire them, so severely that they decide its not worth it.

As long as we dump everything on the illegals and don't look at the other half of the equation we will never solve the problem.

Yes, they have a problem with two governmnents, but after all, no one should be discriminated by one government or another just because of the place they born.

They don't stand up to their own government because they don't have freedom of speech like we do and janet w you should watch what you are saying because if you were in a situation like them you would be thinking a completely different thing.

Do you see these answers about starving, no rights? They have been fed too much media play on sympathies.

It is a poor country, but there are many people here starving and poor as well. You don't see them all commiting identity theft, etc.

There is always people that know how to do everything. As long as they do not actually have to do it themselves.
If a people do not see others suffering then everything is okay and suffering does not exist.

If you wanted an honest answer why ask it here, we cannot and should not speak for them. Find one and ask him, all you will get here is a bunch of racist answers.

Because most of their governments don't allow free speech like we do and they live in the fear of going to jail or worse.
