Throw it away, you could try to reason with him, but you probably already have tried that! Put it in a garbage bag and let him see you put it in the dumpster. Sometimes kids just do that. Thats what I'd do.

ask him what he wants. wheather to throw the puppet away or to let it be at home. if he wants it to be thrown, te choice is made. if he wants to let it be, tell him you are going to make him do something really brave that he has never done before. place it next to him on the same bed and let him sleep with the puppet with the lights on all night, i think if he does this for couple of says, he will get over the fear. you shud also encourange him simialrly that it is only a toy and not real. kids watch all these horror shows that play on their mind and it is imp to let then know these things are not real. only meant to scare people. and look nobody else is afraid. so he shud grow up

Donate it to a church or thrift shop. Have them tell him that there is a boy who loves puppets and they'll call the boy to tell him he can come and get it.
This way your son won't have to worry about the puppet. And the puppet will be happy so it won't come back to kill him
Lots of luck

This is such a simple answer...You're son's sanity is much more important than a toy. Get rid of it. If it has sentimental value, give it to a friend or relative until your son is old enough to understand it's just a toy. I'm betting you 12 year old is playing games with his brother, but best to be safe and get it out of the home.
good luck

This sounds like something right out of a horror movie.
Okay, take the darn thing outside and cut it up in front of the child and set it on fire and take the ashes to a body of water and pour them in the water.
That should make the child feel save. Oh, if you or the child believes in God pour some holy water on the thing and bind it in the name of Jesus. That should make him feel safer.

Get rid of the puppet and let him see you do it. He is obviously afraid of it and acting out. Save him the trauma and just remove it.

don't make a spectacle out of it. just remove it and don't mention it. all kids have an active imagination. don't treat it like something evil, cause that will only give him further nitemares. get him some candy, and i'm sure he'll forget it all.
