We have been friend for nearly four years now. We spend a lot of time together and she is very affectionate towards me, but I know she has never seen me as any thing other than her best friend event though I have sent many signals. I have been very patient with her but can’t hold out much longer. I love her and every time we go to a bar and some guy starts hitting on her it kills me. What do I have to do to get her to notice me?

BECUZ U ARE SENDING HER MIXED SIGNALS!!!
how can u sit there and watch while someone flirts with a girl you like, and to make things worse,it's you who took her out .
now another problem is you seem to know the truth but you are still holding on to maybe a more clear future. now stop hiding and acting all Mr. patient and nice..
tell her how you feel!!! and find out the truth..don't waste anymore time because the next time you might go out might as well be the day she falls for some guy that hits on her!

Be direct and ask her. Or ignore her and start flirting with other girls, you need to be more self confident and take command. Acting like a puppy dog will not attract her but result in the opposite effect. If she already thinks of you as a nice guy and just 'a friend', then most likely all is lost... Learn from your experience and move on.

Have you ever asked her out? Call her up and make it clear that it will be just the two of you. Even thought it's cliche dinner and a movie will make it obvious. You don't take "just friends" out like that, so she should take the hint.

well usually it is girls who give hints not guys. If she is not giving you hints then she might just want you as a friend.
If you are worried that much why don't you ask her out. I mean what is better than having your best friend as a girl friend and as a mate and as a wife.
Honestly I want my wife to be my best friend.

Well, first off, u need to think about the friendship and see if u want to risk losing her as a good friend if u tell her how u feel. If u feel u want to risk it then.....

Tell her how u feel.

We women don't always know how u guys feel about us, so just talk to her about it.

Good luck.

I think all guys flirt, even when they're friends with us. So make sure she knows it's more than flirting. Since you've known her so long, she might not see it. I'd say, take her to dinner sometime and let her know how you feel.

Ask her out before a guy asks her out and gets married. Just make a move first and say "um....would you like to be a couple?"
