Tell her and if she says no then just wait until you're 18. It might be out of style then though. lol

Sit down with your mother and be totally upfront. Be honest and tell her your reasons for wanting to have it done. I wouldn't say "well so and so has it and I want it too." She could reply with "that's not good enough."
Tell her you wanted to talk about it with her first. She'll respect you for taking her into consideration rather than just going out and doing it yourself. Show her you've done your research about the piercing. She may not understand or agree with piercings so give her a little history about the practise.Tell her you know how to take care of it and you know what the potential risks are and how to deal with them. Tell her about the place you're going to have it done and the person that will be doing it. Be prepared to answer any questions she may have. Show her just how serious you are about this. Most importantly let her know that you've saved up your money and are more than willing to pay for it yourself.
If she says no do not get upset. Ask her why and then wait a little bit and ask again. She may think it's just a phase and it will pass.

I side with Mama on this one. The health risks involved in body piercings are too large in my estimation. And any piercing other than on the earlobe can actually bar you from certain jobs. That means the airline industry, and corporate law to name a couple.
I was six when my mother had my ears pierced.I rather liked them unpierced and I have chosen to let my own daughters wait until they are adults until they get theirs done if at all.
Respect her wishes(it won't kill you!) and wait until you are an adult on your own in your own home before going that route

Sorry I am with your mom. I guess you won't vote me as the best answer. But are you aware that those things can get infected. I know cause it happened to me when I got my ears pierced. You probably look a lot better without it. Remember what you do when you are young it will follow you through life.Sorry its not what you want to hear, but wanted you to be aware of infection.

You have to have a good reason to convince her to peirce your lip. She proabably won't let you. So, just wait until you have a job and you're out on your own to pay for a lip ring. I guess.

Why don't you think of a few good reasons why you think you want this done, then approach her and tell her you've been thinking about getting this..instead of telling her what you think you want?
Timing is everything....and trust me, it's all in the delivery!

I tend to think its best to wait until your 18 as well, but if your sure you want it, just try explaining to her how badly you want it. Maybe do a bit of research on it before hand (i.e. how to maintain it, etc.) to show her your taking it seriously.

Listen to your Mother. Don't do it. Why do you kids want to poke holes in your bodies anyway? I knew a girl who had three things pierced in her tongue. She druelled.
