and you ask him to help you in your life

a) what do you (have you) asked for

B) Dont you give yourself any credit for the "prayer comming true"?

I mean, if you feel you need to pray to God to help you then you must feel pretty down, desperate and/or ready for something to change? Right? Then don't you think that you either consciously or subconsciously might have had a role in those prayers comming
true? I mean, if you want something bad enough then you can make it happen, you don't need God.

I was just wondering if you were willing to explore some of your "answered prayers" from this perspective.

Good Question:

Ask and it shall be given to you; Seek, and ye shall find; Knock, and it shall be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7

“The gods help them that help themselves.” -- Aesop

In all cases, it is you who have to make anything happen.

I once prayed that i would not have to kill anyone when i was in Operation Desert Storm.. I was in the front line and in several times, dangerous positions close to the Iraqi army. I was granted a great honor i feel that i did not have to take a life. This situation is an true example how if a person puts their prayers according to his standards prayers/miracles come true.

It is true if you want something bad enough you can make it happen, but as the bible also states, unforeseen things occur, so bad things happen or we can get into unforeseen trouble. Its just a matter of faith, but when things work out that are out of your control you have a choice really to praise the God of Creation or the God of Luck.

My prayers usually focus on discernment of right and wrong, and that almost seems like it is hard-wired. The question then becomes, how did the concept of right and wrong evolve from a Big Bang and a primordial soup up to the 'neuroethics' of man?

Random processes in open thermodynamic systems are more likely to have the ethics of a tornado or other dissipative structures. So, I conclude the difference between man and random physical processes is God, and that some prayers are answered within a framework of grantsmanship that is unknown to us because of the infinite complexity within the mind of God.

when i pray i ask for things that i am trying to do that i think i need help with. i know god isn't gonna magically make me get an A on a test but it makes me feel better knowing that i COULD get an A. i don't know if that makes much sense but that's how i think of it, the test analogy is kind of stupid tho. the only time it's something i don't expect in return is when i pray for someone that has died.
and prayers don't come true, WISHES come true.
and i pray EVERY night reguardless of if i'm feeling "down" or not.
the purpose of praying isn't to "make something happen" either

I don't go to church anymore because I don't like the "brands" of spiritualism they try to sell but I pray every morning- I say my "thank yous" and my wishes for what I call my "doors"- and if I'm stuck in a quandry and need aliitle help on the road- I don't think I've ever asked for a miracle or a gift of an answer- but rather a door- just send me in the right direction and I can open it and let myself in. All mistakes are lessons- the bummer is when we aren;t smart enough to learn the lesson- they get repeated! My personal role is to grow spiritually on this earth and learn all I can, and practice those lessons- being humble pie or happy celebration- we need to grow our souls- God can't do that for us, we must.

I pray to god every minute i have... you dont always have to have a certain time! but yes i do ask god for thing ...like friends(been at a new school this year) church issues, and peace...but you dont always have to ask god for things most of the time that is wat people think and well praying isnt asking god for stuff but you can also thank god for things. No i dont really give myself any credit because i didnt do anything besides Pray! So no i believe that god deserves all the praise when it happens! SO YEAH :)

We need to feel the need for God help all the time not just when things are going bad. I pray mainly for the Lord Will to be done. The world might collapse around us but if it brings the end, so be it. If we are in God will, we will be with him in the end. That is all that matters.

Most of the problems can be explained in the Bible. For instance you can't really pray for peace when you look at what's in store for us in the last days as explained in Luke chapter 21 and Matthew chapter 24.

It alos depends which god do you pray to. Some people worship the sun and I doubt it if the sun can comprehend anything.

Then we'd all be rich Happy, and have no problems. The nature of this world is not like that. There is Karma from previous lives we have to receive. Some good and some bad. You have no control over that yourself. Only through purification can on get rid of past life Karma. Then you also have your mind to deal with which is so conditioned. If you want to know how to get what you like and how to get rid of all Karma go to http://www.stephen-knapp.com and get The Universal Path to Enlightenment, and so much more is there

Prayer isn't just talking and asking God for a favor. it's like talking to a friend... you can tell him about your problems and also some of you over comings. You can thank and praise him. And you listen. Sometimes ppl forget to listen to God but he wants to talk to you to.

I mean come on how many of us like one-sided conversations?

And if I prayed for a friend that had cancer (this is hypothetically speaking) and she suddenly was cured without no treatment I have no one but God to thank.

God doesn't just rubber stamp every prayer sometimes he gives us the strength to handle the situation or endure it. And other times he might handle it himself in some way (directing the right people in the right way) or he just might say 'No' or 'Not right now' it all depends upon the circumstance that you are under.
