I would like to know what most Christians believe about the Bible...
Please answer each part of this question:

1. Does the Bible contain all of God's word?

2. Do you allow for the possibility that additional books of scripture could be revealed in the future?

3. Do you allow for the possibility that some scriptures may have been written in the past that are not included as part of the Bible?

4. If a particular doctrine or teaching is not found in the Bible, and the Bible is silent on the matter (does not say anything for or against the doctrine), does that mean that the doctrine must be false?

5. Please share scriptural references, if any, that support your answers. If there are no Biblical verses that support your answers, then what forms the basis for your answers?

1. No, It contains all the recorded words of God that He inspired to be passed down orally and then later put into written form. It contains what God wants us to have, that gives us pertinent information to allow us to live holy and godly lives.

2. No, There is no other need for additional or supplemental material to be classified as "holy scriptures". With the closing of the book of the Revelation of St. John the Divine. no more scriptures have been or will be added.

3. In the Bible is all the doctrine we could want if we as true born again Spirit filled Christians would live and this completely to the fullness of God. The doctrines that are found and established therein are there because controverseries arose in the early church and hereseys were beginning to creep in. So the epistles were birthed. The reason for the gospels was that those who were first witnessed to Christ were aging and the Spirit inspired them to put their account into written form. These were later copied with minute precision to which the errors that we have found do not undermine a single doctrine noted there in.

Eventhough there may be writings found, such as the Dead Sea Scrolls the rule that made the books of the Bible into a canon, that none other books have met the criteria. These were to have been written by an apostle, or someone known by the apostles (Luke, Mark) or have a high spiritual content (like the book of Hebrews), or to have been agreed upon by the original founding fathers of the church by AD 100.

4 The Bible pertains to all needs to grow in grace in all holiness, godliness and fear of the LORD, to lead each succeeding generation of followers into greater and rewarding light that in each and every generation there is enough scripture to produce revival in every generation - if only we believe wholeheartedly in the word of God.

2 Timothy 3:15-16 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scripture which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work

Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrows; it judges the thoughts and intents of the heart. Nothing in all of creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Revelation 22:18-20 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues that are in this book. And if anyone takes away from this book of prophecy God will take away from his share in the tree of life and in the holy city which are described in this book.

The Bible is not all we need. The Apostles handed down tradition to the Bishops, their successors, which contain another insight into Jesus' teachings. Just as a carefully kept scrapbook of your family's life might well document all special events, traditions, and happenings, it alone could never tell the whole story. Having a family member sit with you and explain everything, as you turn page to page, would reveal the entire truth.
Just as our country's Constitution has carefully written standards for the way our country should be "run", we still have courts and Judges who are responsible for ensuring the laws are interpretted and caried out just our Founding Fathers intended them to be. If we were all allowed to decide for ourselves what the Constitution meant to us, it would be mass chaos. The same goes for the Bible.
This Oral Tradition in no way goes against anything in the Bible, it only supports it or clarifies it, according to the teachings of Christ himself and handed down through the centuries through His Apostles and then the Bishops.

There are certainly other scriptures written, which are worth reading, but were not considered "divinely inspired", and therefore not included in the BIble.

1. yes.
2. no. the book of revelation rejects the addition of more books.
3. no. God's ways are perfect. If there was needed more, God would have made sure there were more.
4. Understand, many doctrines may have not been directly translated, but it doesn't mean there wasn't the possibility of being covered. Homosexual, as a word, was not in the Bible. It is dealt with in Romans 1, et al.
Marijuana and cocaine may not be directly explained in the Bible but the Word comes through of its dangers.
5. Please not the greek word pharmakia, which is translated witchcraft or manipulation. This is where we get the word pharmacy. Pharmacy is place to get drugs. Thus, drugs are "manipulators" against your body. Drugs, like marijuana and cocaine, are addicted and will control you.

1) The Ecumenical Councils filtered what they deemed the "Word of God", and that is what the modern Bible is composed of. Read the Nag Hammadi Library and see for yourself what you're missing.

2) Why shouldn't there be? The world is dynamic. The god that supposedly created it ought to be, too.

3) They already have been. See answer #1.

4) Any religious Christian will tell you that ALL the answers are in the Bible. Is this necessarily true? I don't think so. That's when you exercise common sense.

5) The ONLY gem of wisdom I like to repeat from Saul of Tarsus:

"Test all things; hold fast to what is good." 1 Thessalonians 5:21

To be a good Christian, just be one and act like one and not be pious about it. You don't have to analyze every word literally in the Bible.
