It does sound like an anxiety attack. It is scary, and confusing. You sound like a sensitive person, as I am, and we have warm hearts! Things effect us deeply, and that's good and bad I guess.

All you need to do is learn a few coping skills, breathing techniques-important, a good person to talk to-a good therapist, and you'll be calm and cool in no time.

I have had this quite a bit, and kept looking in the wrong directions for help. I finally realized all the Drs and their pills only gave me more side effects, and the anxiety was worse.
The root of the problem was never addressed.

Breathing, believe it or not, is huge. Talk to a good therapist. Don't get discouraged if you get a loony or two at first. Sorry, therapists, but I have. Wearing oven mitts was just not going to help.

I never knew how much breathing, meditation and relaxation could help.
The therapist can help you figure out why they occur, then how to cope. Coping is the key. Whether it's your issue at present, or the next one that comes along, it's figuring out how YOU respond to these, and why.

Find a good yoga class. I found one very peaceful, very positive and sort of spiritual. Nothing weird, just learning how to find inner peace.
It wasn't in a gym, but that could work too. Now I'll lie down in my living room on a mat, with my candles, dim the lights, my CD's on relaxation ( I rent them from the library) and try to slooow down; the more I relax, the clearer things become, my breathing and heart rate slow.
I also began swimming at the YMCA. It is peaceful to me. I just glide around, practice breathing and it feels good overall.

Give it a try, give it some time, and know that you are normal.

Anxiety attack. They can hit you at any time, even if you're not feeling nervous or anxious about anything. The death of your friend's dad obviously hit you hard. Maybe you should ask your doctor to refer you to a grief counselor, or does your school have one ? Meanwhile, take in deep breaths through your nose, and slowly let them out through your mouth, if you feel an attack coming on. I know it's scary, I was whisked off to hospital a few years back, everyone was convinced it was a heart attack or asthma. It was an anxiety attack and I felt fine a little later. Good luck

You are a fine person that cares for friends. Maybe God is telling you something so cry a little. We men expect the real females to cry some. Don't be scared unless you think others don't figure things out by watching people. And then so what be happy God has given you life over dullness.

Talk to someone about it. Yahoo was a good start, but sharing is really best when you are face-to-face with someone. Try your second best friend, your mother, someone you trust not to say something mean. Also, try your school counselor or if you really feel the need a professional psychiatrist! You aren't half as crazy as the average person who comes to Yahoo! for help, but talking to someone would be a good idea. It calms most people down.

Also try meditation. Just think about nothing or as close to nothing as you can imagine. Close your eyes. Your peers will think you are merely sleeping in math class like a normal person. Relax. Let go.

Did that help?

It is probably just what you thought it was....Symptoms of an anxiety attack or panic attack. You need to talk to your parents about this. If they don't take you seriously, go to your school counselor. You should probably have a thorough physical examination by your doctor. This could be caused by a physical problem or you may need some counseling. Don't hesitate...do it now! You are not alone. Hugs.....

I get random out breaks like that too, but I usually think of a reason for why I am crying. Something probably made you think of your friends father, and it made you cry because you are sympthetic about you friends father. I am sorry about the death. I know how it feels to lose somone i have lost 7 members in my family, and I wish you and your friend luck on your recovery period from this death!

I think it could just be that you are hungry or if you already ate you could be thinking to hard about something. Try to relax, and it will most likely go away.

Most likely anxiety from unresolved grief. Please see a therapist to work through this so you can move on.
