There are many things that God has done for me that is my proof for myself. My husband and I were able to obtain a loan for our house and there was no earthly way we should have ever been able to even consider the house because of our credit scores. (We prayed to God to provide us the house and we didn't even have money to put down for it.)
My sister was diagnosed with colon cancer, there seemed little hope for her. My family prayed for her (and we are all from different denominations and non-denominations) and when the doctor re-tested to perform surgery, it was gone. She hadn't even had the first treatment on it, and had seen 2 other doctors stating the same thing. She has been cancer free for 4 years now.
Those are just 2 examples of my proof.

Because there is no empirical test that can prove the existence of a god. I've said it so many times- God is NOT about proof. Proof and evidence is in the realm of science, and science will never be able to do what it was not intended to do.
An anthropology professor of mine gave a wonderful example of this. If you take a vial of water into any university Science Department, they will be able to tell you, after a series of tests, exactly what is in the water. How much chlorine, how much fluoride, how many impurities. It can NOT tell you if the water is tapwater or holy water. Or for the more secular minded- give that same department a dirt sample. It can tell you the composition of the soil, how good it is for planting, how much moisture it's holding, but it can NOT tell you if it's public property or private property. That is just not what science is meant to do!
God is something you feel deep inside. God has many faces, many feelings, and almost anything can be attributed to a god by anyone. If you believe in god, you should NOT have to prove it to anyone, nor is it anyone else's business. People should respect that everyone has their own beliefs, and be they rational or not in your opinion, just smile and nod and accept that everyone is different.

I laughed for about an hour after I first read you question and after some thought decided to contribute to the strong responses with the following quotes by people who shared similar sentiments.
"I don't have the evidence to prove that God doesn't exist, but I so strongly suspect that he
doesn't that I don't want to waste my time."
(Isaac Asimov / 1920-1992)
"Science with religion is lame ; religion without science is blind.
Science without religion is useful, religion with science is useless."
(Albert Einstein / 1879-1955)
"One of the proofs of the immortality of the soul is that myriads have believed it. They
also believed the world was flat."
(Mark Twain / 1835-1910 / Notebook)
"Science can destroy religion by ignoring it as well as by disproving its tenets. No one
ever demonstrated, so far as I am aware, the non-existence of Zeus or Thor - but they
have few followers now."
(Arthur C. Clarke / born in 1917)
And finally, my favorite- an excerpt from
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy;
Douglas Adams:
"The arguement goes something like this:
'I refuse to prove that I exist,' says God, 'for proof denies faith and without faith I am nothing.'
'But,' says Man, 'the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguements, you don't. *QED.'
'Oh dear,' says God, 'I hadn't thought of that.' and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic. 'Oh, that was easy.' says Man, and for an encore goes on to prove that black is whaite and gets himself killed on the next pedestrian crossing..."
*Latin/ Quod Erat Demonstrandum:
(Which was the thing to be proved.)
I find that using this quote and replacing the example of the "Babel fish" with any number of other words it becomes a powerful arguementative tool, especially when refuting the arguements of "Intelligent Design".
At any rate, I thoroughly enjoyed your question and hope you enjoyed my answer.

I agree that most Christians are fools who just spout out verses that they really haven't read. I however do think there is more than enough evidence to 'prove' the existence of God. Actually I personally have found that my convictions lean toward a Goddess who birthed creation. Anyway, the true point is that most people who have found an attraction to spirituality have found evidence for themselves. The fact that very few 'scientists' have done 'empirical' studies only proves that the sciences are just as human and vain as most bible thumpers. There is so much fear of being ostracized for such studies that few have ventured down that path. There are a few though and the Internet is a wonderful source for finding them. Maybe a better use of your time is to go look.

Note that you said factual proof is obtained USUALLY by empirical testing. So why do you insist that the existence of God can only be proved by empirical testing? Empirical verification is but one way of knowing something to be true.

People feel that there is proof that god exist by the blessings that happen in their lives. Now truth be told happen they believe it is god's doings. Especially when you pray about it and no matter how long it took you get it. That's is why I believe their is a god because every time and I mean every time I pray and ask god for some thing no matter what is it I end up getting it. It may not come right away, but it does come. That's my proof.

There is something you need to understand about God...He GIVES everybody the faith to believe; it doesn't take much..if you have faith the size of a grain of mustard seed, you are able to IF YOU WANTED TO! Secondly, God shows you many, many more things in your life AFTER you've become a believer...that's why all of you that have never taken that initial step of faith find this so incredulous. He isn't going to talk to you from a burning bush to make you believe, and that's what you figure it would take...so instead, you "disguise" your disillusionment under intelligence and education and write us off as intellectually inferior to you...you have NO IDEA what God would do in your lives if you would just stop all your demands upon Him, and TRY FAITH! Just see what might happen.

Not even the Dalai Lama's word is considered universal proof.
Give it up. No one can give 100% proof.

See what I mean - there's no reasoning with believers because they don't have to rely on facts and reality - there's nothing that can be done with them.
Maybe I should just start saying, Well, I just have faith that evolution is proof enough." How many believers would accept that?
