I may have to try this, I KNOW that mayo/sugar dressing is great with lettuce and tomatoes, so throwing in the apples might be a good twist....I think I'll try it!

I would try it....
Then maybe I will tweak it to suit me and change the sugar for honey and added to the mayo. Maybe a little squirt of lemon and some kind of nuts are starting to sound really good. A kicked up Waldorf Salad version.
*** but I will try it just as you descirbe it first then maybe do my own little twists.

Sounds close to my mom's waldorf salad. Except she used Cool Whip, grapes instead of tomatoes, and walnuts. I've heard mayo can be used in place of Cool Whip.

I would prefer more than just tomatoes and apples.

What the heck is the sugar for?

I suppose I could give it a try. Not my first choice, though. Waldorf salads usually have a bit of celery and nuts, though, too. Sometimes with grapes added.
