Why do so many come here to debate/discuss? Are they eager to learn from the experiences of others? Or more eager to convert others to their religion? Does this ever work? Does anybody actually change their minds about faith or the world?

I know what my answer to this question is, I'm wondering what yours is...

Curiosity brings me here. I am curious as to what others think on topics concerning Religion and Spirituality. I normally debate/discuss in chatrooms as it is hard to actually debate in here. I have absolutely no desire to convert anyone. Personal beliefs are just that, personal and I have no reason to get that personal with people online. As for someone changing their mind about faith or anything else, I am not sure. I have yet to meet someone who has changed religions or loss religion based on debates online. Though, I have seen some finally come to a common ground and gain some understanding of anothers point of view, I haven't seen the changed because of it.

Misery loves company, as the old saying goes. I love to debate, but I like to debate within the realm of where it is more productive, learning about others views. No, my faith is not shaken by anyone's views, and my learning about them further makes stronger my own views.

my answer is, if your faith in your own belief is strong enough, no matter the hurricanes of arguments or "promotions" over here, nothing can sway your own faith.

you must have had your own doubts, if you were to be swayed.
if these people on Yahoo! ANswers post such questions, then i suppose they had that overwhelming pride to share with the rest of the world.

kudos to all for the efforts.

I'm here to answer questions that I know something about. The questions that I don't have an interest in or know nothing about, I rarely, if ever, even look at.

I find that through having to define my ideas, in the medium of debate, they become clearer and more concrete - which means, sometimes, I end up changing them or refining them.
