California buys hydro power from Oregon, They caused the aluminum plants to close because they had the votes to buy cheap power from BPA. They don't have nuclear plants, but they buy electricity from the six muclear generators at palo verde, 30 miles west of Phoenix AZ. Nice bunch of hypocrits they are.

not to my knowledge. I have lived in areas that did you could smell it in the air. We burn a lot of bio fuels here, I know in town there is a medical waste disposal plant that generates electrity burning the waste. We also have a lot dam projects that generate hydroelectric power.....not to mention wind turbines and the occasional solar plant, of which there is one right down the road.

No, we import about 20% of our energy from states with coal plants.
