How do you think they can tell that oysters for eating don't contain any pearls?

I have found a pearl in an oyster ... I bought a special canned oyster that was guaranteed to have a pearl inside.

Edible oysters do not produce pearls.

Other than at a fair, no I have not. But they cannot always tell if one has a pearl or not; although it is rare in nature to find one. Most pearls are farmed in the oyster beds provided for the pearl companies.

Several times. But, it was after the oyster was cooked, so it destroyed any value the pearl may have had. Also, they were about the size of #2 shot.

In the tourist areas of Hawaii there are kiosks that you can purchase oysters that all have pearls in them...i guess the company artificially inseminates their oysters.
