My daughter has a huge strawberry(birthmark) on her head. Its pretty noticable! Any other parents have a similiar issue and what have you done about it? Let it run its course and see if it fades or get steroids to reduce the size? Whats everyones opinion? I have a 4 month drs apt on friday and will ask the dr about it again, but Id really like to do something about it!! Thanks a bunch for your input!

There are many variables. Some can be very vascular and hard to remove. I would talk to your pediatrician, and then maybe get a second opinion from a plastic surgeon. I have been in on many cases where they remove birth marks and nevus's from young children.

my daughter had 2 small strawberry marks (stork bites) when she was born, the one on her face disappeared and the one at he nape of neck only slightly visible when she has been exercising or exerting herself.

As long as is is not the kind that can impede their eyesight or causing medical problems most doctors will leave it alone because treatment for them can be painful for the baby. Normal Strawberry birthmarks will fade over time.

Well if it's on her head won't her hair cover it up? I'm confused. If it's visible and it's not something that will go away on its own while she's still little then I would do something about it. Feeling inferior about yourself bc of kids making fun of your appearance can be really harmful emotionally. I don't know about the steroids, though. Sounds kind of scary. You need to talk with her doctor.

Well, she is only 4 months, her hair should cover it. How big is it? Will hair cover it to where it isn't noticeable? I'd wait to see what the doctors have to say, then go with your gut instinct. I had a big birthmark on my neck for a long time, and it finally disappeared in my teens on its own. Now you don't even realize I had one there. =)

My little cousin had a huge one- covering most of his face. His faded as he got older and now- he is 18- and it's completely gone. I can't really remember how old he was when he was a small spot, but I know it was when he was young- under 10.

I had a HUGE one on my head...my parents let nature take it's course and it faded. It's actually kind of cute in baby pictures....steroids sound kind of harsh for a four month old.

Give it time.

I teach and there are a good amount of children in my school that have birthmarks on their faces. No one really ever mentions it. Kids just kind of accept it without question. If you let nature take its course I doubt she'd have much problem. Kids are pretty accepting mostly.

this depends on your daughters age. Both of my girls were born with strawberry birthmarks on their faces and they faded completely away on their own. i wouldnt worry at all if i were you.
