The Book of Acts wrote that Jesus was killed by hanging him on a tree. By Jewish tradition, a man being hang on a tree is cursed. So, there could be something there why Christians are hiding why he was hung on the cross. However, your question could be true because it is not just the cross that was made holy. The shroud that was used to cover his body is one, the blood that oozed out when he was pierced, his wounds are called sacred, the Grail which up to now is not really clear which one, In fact, had they found the spear, maybe it will also be holy, It is not impossible to have the nooze be called holy if that will be the case and so was the tree. I am still waiting for the whip that was used to flogg him and that could be a holy whip. I wanted to say to you to let them be however my heart tells me to tell the Christians let it be known that those kind of adorations are simply idolatrous however you look at it. Of course, whatever they do they will always have a good reason.

I often think that an Electric Chair might be a better modern day symbol of the Martyrdom of the cross, people would certainly understand it better. The cross is not holy... it is a symbol for what was Holy, a man crucified for living a life showing us how to create a better world (which often gets folks killed).

most likely we would wear the noose. Since there were no injections in the time that He was on the earth we don't have to worry about how we would look with an syringe hanging on a chain.

Just imagine if He died during sex.

Actually, the cross is an ancient pre-christian phallic symbol, universal in practically all cultures. It's no accident at all that it came to be the symbol of christianity, whose every miraculous and mysterious feature was lifted from earlier pagan mystery cults and grafted on to the record of the life of a 1st-century Jewish fundamentalist prophet.

a gallows would make a better symbol than a tree, and technically it wasn't a "murder weapon" as your question states. It was a execution device, commonly used by the Romans to execute criminals who had been tried in a court of law and found guilty.
It is no more murder than when Florida puts a criminal in the gas chamber, or Utah, electrocutes somebody, or Texas does any number of things to kill their condemned criminals

Good question!!! Let's extend it futher: if A's brother was killed by a gun, would it be proper for A to wear a replica of gun on his chest?

Silly, but true. The cross--a pagan symbol--was an instrument to put the Christ to shame. ( Hebrews 12:2) So, people wearing the cross are really putting Christ to shame. Agree?

heh, I always heard it as "If Christ returned, what would he think of the crosses? Would you go up to Jackie Onassis with a gun on a chain?"

Personally, I think its more like a reminder of how one mans actions can change the course of the world. Which is what makes it holy in my eyes.

Yes, I think it would, or it would have remained a fish.

To believers, the cross is not just an instrument of torture. It is a symbol of Jesus's willingness to suffer and sacrifice himself for his love for mankind.

Good question, and what a disturbing fact! I have never thought of it that way. Seems really cultish now and based on martyrdom. Thanks for something to think about!
