You can delete an unwanted partition using Acronis Disk Director that has OS Selector tool. Just select OS selector tool then select an unwanted partition and press "delete". It's a very easy procedure, isn't it?

U should be looking for Acronis Disk Director Suite.
This software can delete ur partition without any affect to another one. It's quite cheap, besides it's some very useful features (such as recovering accidently deleted partitions).

when you were installing xp you must have pressed any key when it was rebooting during install, by doing so you interupted the first install, put your disk in ur cd /dvd drive restart pc, when it say press any key to boot, press any key
follow the instruction on screen to format the disk, but when the pc reboots during install do not press any key , let it just run itself, or u will end up with 1/2 doz xp's, and no i dont think you can uninstall one of them

First, edit your boot.ini so only the operating system you want is in it. Mine looks like:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Then use GParted to delete the other partition and resize your primary partition.

I can give you a link that deals with hard drive problems.
Some RAM/hard drive problems can be easily fixed yourself by using easily available tools. I found the info at http://fixit.in useful. Try this site, if you can get what is required.
