Please don't just drop this bird off at any local Vet. You haven't descried what the injuries are or what type of pigeons it is (fancy or feral) but pigeons aren't protected by law and therefor, a Vet is under no obligation to do anything for them. In fact, 9 times out of 10 they'll simply euthanize the bird instead of trying to help it.

The following site will help locate wildlife rehabbers in your area (or nearby) http://www.tc.umn.edu/~devo0028/contactA.htm.

Also go to http://www.pigeons.biz/ for everything you need ot know about taking care of this bird while it's in your home. The site has some great first aid advice and might also be able to help with locating a person who can help.

ANY VETerinarian will take the pigeon-they will assess his injuries and do whats in the pigeon's best interest-if the pigeon can be saved they will treat and then turn over to a wildlife rehabilitator and eventually released if his raecovery is where it can survive out of captivity. Best to Call the Vet to make sure but just in case they do not will definitely refer you to one that will.

While you're on line, look for rehabilation centers or individuals in your area. Call your local shelter, they may have the name of someone. In the meantime, use a box with bedding to keep the bird warm. Don't try to feed it or give it water.

Just click on my name and it will take you to where you can send an e-mail thru Yahoo to contact me.

I found one in August and inheritted another a few days ago...both were injured and I figured you are safe now to heal and if you heal you will go...if not you can stay...I have a hut in my yard and made perches and a roosting box and fedd and water...people kill pigeons for fun...if you think you can mend it try it they are wonderful....my first one comes on walks with me down the street to the park and comes to me when I call...good luck

You should take him to a rehab or an avian vet- as I see as you already know. Sorry. But good luck, and I think you are really nice to help an injured pigeon. :)
