He already has everything from the latest iPod, mobile phone, 3 laptops, cameras and more. I'd like to find him a nice GPS to add to his collection, but I want it to be something that he will really like and use. I heard good feedback about the Tomtom - any others worth investigating?

How about a Palm? If he likes coding, you can get a C++ compiler for Palms, so you can take a common software language and use it for on-the-road programs that go almost anywhere!

well, if he were an ELECTRICAL engineer, an electric hobby grade RC truck, car, or airplane might work. These aren't the garbage you buy at stores, these are the wonders at a hobby shop near you. Someone modified theirs to the point it would go 110 MPH or so on Lithium Polymer batteries and Novak brushless motors. The reason why is because when you get deeply into how the chargers work, you can practically rewire your house with confidence by yourself! Also, almost every electronic device should come with a spec chart that shows its limitations

Give him a 'DUCK TAPE' Wallet! I'm serious! I saw them today at a farm store. This is a great gag gift that is also usable. I think he will like it, and will remember this gift with a smile for a long time.
But if the 'Tom-Tom' is what you are comfortable with then go with it. Good Idea.

The Garmin C330 is great. I work for Best Buy and most of the home theater techs I oversee use GPS. I saw how they all worked and bought the Garmin for my wife. Tom Tom is great in Europe (where it originates from), but it loses signal too often in the US.

It works with a bluetooth phone, There are some that have Weather alerts and can store songs and pictures. They are a little more pricey then other navigation devices, but can also do more.
I have one and like it.

OOOO! OOOO! OOOO!

Get him a pocket knife. One of those ones with all the crazy tools on it. Like a leatherman or the one with the crecent wrench on it.

What guy in the world doesn't react positively when recieving a pocket knife as a gift.
