The right way to pray is with devotion, praise, humility and generosity, not just to ask for what you want.

Think of God like a person, a father, with good intentions, but with His Own points of view, and His Own (infinite) experience: if you ask your father about something, it is not always that he makes move to help you, or he might make it in the way you wouldn't expect. For example, given a complicated situation in school, a father might think you might need the experience of going thru these troubles, he might think that if he interferes, your freedom will be violated, or you won't learn to make some decisions, or that your friends will be taken aback by him interfering, or whatever else his personal opinion is.
With God it is even "worse": the situation you encounter is already induced, or allowed for, by his Providence, even before you realized you have it. So, it won't do just to pray you out of it, unless you are willing to learn, what can you make from the situation and what is His possible point in this might be. You must consider the freedom of other people around you also.

Pray from you heart, don't get into the habit of sounding like a robot. Whatever is on your mind is what you should talk to him about Asking god to forgive you is great, but if things always seem to get worse, then it doesn't mean you're praying wrong, it just means that maby god is testing you. The test may be lenghty but i promise hes not putting you through it if he does not think you can take it. it will make you stronger, continue to pray the, im sure god appreciates it the way that it is. You will make it through. I'm praying for you.

Don't pray to God like He's 500 miles away. He lives w/in you as long as your temple (heart) is clean. Believe in your prayer. He hears you well. Make sure you have repented before you ask for help. Start and end your prayers with praise. These are all points found in the prayer outline given in Matt. Hope this helps.

also, cop 350 is right on the money w/ his answer.

Part of prayer is faith. You need to find Scriptures that address your situation, & you pray these to G-d. you ask G-d in faith to align your situation to how it should be, based on Scripture.
For example, (I have a poor self image) I may pray the Scripture that says I am the head & not the tail, or the Scripture that says G-d as exalted me above my fellows. Next thing I know, I'm promoted at work. This is a real example I'm giving you here.
I do NOT focus on how down I feel, or how bad the circumstances are, because I can be in bad circumstances & still be positive.
Does this help?

There is no wrong or right way to pray. Praying is talking to God, the same way you are talking to us now. You don't have to ask for forgiveness every day if you are not a habitual sinner; do not condemn yourself, just allow God to minister to you as you come into His presence. Love, be bless.

As long as you believe and ask God for forgiveness, you are on the right track. He hears you, and although it is frustrating the period of time that we wait, He will show you the way in time, His time. In my life I have realized that the bad times are just stepping stones to better things. It doesn't seem like it when we are going through bad things, but there is actually happiness and peace at the end of those times.

God Bless You....

The right way to pray is according to His will, not the way we think it should be.

When we take petitions to God, we should also offer up our thanksgiving to Him at the same time.

Not my will, but Thine be done.

His answer is always in love, even when he says no. He knows what is best. We don't!

Don't forget, sometimes His answer is, "Wait!"

Also, remember, we are not put here to seek our own happiness. We are put here to be made into the image of Christ. This is impossible apart from trials, troubles, sorrows, etc.

I feel that way sometimes to, but the important thing is to keep your trust in god. No matter how bad it gets, do not forget that god has a perfect plan for you and even though it may seem bad now, it is gonna get better. Because when the judgement day comes, he will reward you for keeping your trust in him. And to answer your question, you keep on repenting and talking with god, its important to talk with him but with the most respect. What i do is, when i pray, i imagine in my head god and me, with me kneeling in front of him and god being like a million times bigger than me. What that does is keep you humble, by humble i mean not to get to proud, because god can do anything, and essentially his is more than a million times bigger than you. so remeber to stay humble when you pray and always keep your trust in god. I hope i answered you question!
