Consider this. If he hadn’t killed himself and had met the resurrected Christ and sincerely asked for forgiveness, Christ would have forgiven him.
Knowing the greed in his heart, Jesus allowed him to play his role in the betrayal, knowing that the Crucifixion must happen.
But Judas could’ve been forgiven if he had lived and genuinely repented.
Instead he chose suicide.

Acts 1:25
to occupy this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside to go to his own place."
A.T. Robertson wrote:
Act 1:25 - ... To his own place (eis ton topon ton idion). A bold and picturesque description of the destiny of Judas worthy of Dante's Inferno. There is no doubt in Peter's mind of the destiny of Judas nor of his own guilt. He made ready his own berth and went to it.

If I am correct, Judas committed suicide, which in Christianity, is an automatic ticket to hell. But to say that just because he betrayed Jesus he went to hell is ludicrous because Christians betray him everyday and are still allowed to repent assuming that they are sincere.

Neither.
He's in the grave, like the rest of the dead (John 5:28-29).
