Good question, hard to answer.
The little anger in me is screaming for blood at the thought, but the rational part of me is saying that pangel might have te right idea, in away.
Maybe if more actual ethics and morals were taught at an earlier age, and i'm not talking bible or religion, i'm talking about a firm "this is right, this is wrong" and keeping an eye out for the symptoms for a premptive way to keep watch on people who will possibly deviate from the society's norm -before- the fact might go a long way towards fixing the problem.

Part of me says they deserve to be stuck in a 6 by 6 cell for their remaining days with nothing on there walls but pictures of the crime scene and the pictures of the crying relatives, but for some that would be pleasurable. So I say why should we and the families of the victims have to pay for the animal in question to get 3 square meals a day, heat and air, daily showers and cable when that is more than many hard working americans can afford for themselves? Capital punishment definately.

What is the serial rapist's mental capacity? Are there any mitigating circumstances?
I don't think a just punishment can be tossed out without knowing the full facts of a case. These things should be decided case by case, with justice as the prime goal.

in case you grew to develop into your existence over to God very last minute, certain I do trust you may want to probable be kept. i do not trust "oh crap, if the bible pushers were authentic i'm screwed" form of conversions are authentic conversions. If without caution they were to ought to delay the execution for some reason I strongly doubt their "God, gee i'm sorry", is going to be a huge existence changer. Being a christian is a existence changer, you do not forget that different sins you've committed are incorrect and that you should make issues authentic. If I were to work out an inmate scheduled to be finished in 7 years and spent that entire time writing actual letters of apology and sympathy to the victims households and tried to make authentic in each and every way conceivable, they'd be kept.

A small cell about the size of a bathroom for the rest of his life...with as little light as possible. Never again to see a child, or daylight.
Or you could just turn him over to the convicts. I'm sure he'd last at least thirty seconds.

Empathy, guilt and sorrow for all who have suffered and will suffer from people like them.Death without these feelings might only create a torturous demon to infect someone else. Death would only serve to set them free.

Death penalty done with swift justice so as to keep them from hurting anyone else and as a deterrent for any others who may try the same thing.

Don't need to punish them. What goes around comes around. They'll pay for it at the center of the Earth!

actually
most rapists and serial murders are ill ... they need help more than punishment
now i am not in any way excusing what they do ...
but how can you punish someone who is ill ?
we need to find better methods of treatment for such people
perhaps too much money goes into the prison sector and not enough into the health care
