Hominy is a food that was popular among Native American Indians. before colonization of the Americas. Hominy is dried Yellow or White Corn kernels from which the hull and germ have been removed. It's commonly served as a side dish or as part of a casserole. When dried hominy is broken or coarsely ground it's called samp. When ground it's called hominy grits-or simply grits.

Hominy is made out of corn. They do some thing to it so its puffed. And so far as I know, in English they just call it hominy. Its very good, buy a can,it comes in white or yellow. I like the yellow hominy best. In the south they call it grits.

Hominy is a corn product and the origen is hard to define. It is whole or ground hulled corn from which the bran and germ have been removed by bleaching the whole kernels in a lye bath (lye hominy) or by crushing and sifting (pearl hominy). It can be ground and is called Hominy Grits and is a cereal that's enjoyed throughout the world.

Hominy is a type of corn kernel, used in the south to make grits and it's delicious, but I must address someone else's answer.
Ok first of all, the Mexican food you speak of is MENUDO, not "monoddle". It is nothing "like noodles". Menudo is a traditional Mexican soup made with hominy and has a spicy beef stock broth. It also contains beef tripe, which is an acquired taste. Usually the kids pick out the tripe and just eat the hominy and soup broth. Chopped onion, dried oregano, a squeeze of lemon or lime and red pepper flakes can be added, depending on the individual eater's taste. Incidentally, menudo cures hangovers. It really does, try it. If the thought of eating beef tripe -especially with a hangover- is repulsive to you, just pick it out and eat the soup and hominy.

I think hominy is a type of corn. I could be wrong though. I don't like it much at all, once I bought by mistake instead of sweet corn.
