You are trying to run 16 bit software on windows xp home which is 32 bit, and 64 bit for xp pro. I kept an old program from a flatbed scanner, but will need a couple days to find them, it may be 32 bit I'm not sure at the moment though. All in one scanner printers are the way to go now and are very reasonably priced nowadays!

I've just done a search for drivers for your scanner at http://www.driverguide.com to find that the latest version of Windows that this scanner is supported by is Windows 98. (This driver, apparently, worked with Windows ME too.) There are no drivers for Windows 2000 as someone earlier suggested, and the link offered (www.primax.nl) is no longer available.

The closest I came was a driver for the IBM Ideascan2000 which, apparently, does support your scanner with both Windows XP Home and Windows XP Pro.

To download the driver, you'll have to login to http://www.driverguide.com and register. (It's free, and you'll see that they are brilliant for obtaining drivers for loads of devices.)

Simply do a search for Primax Colorado USB 19200, and click Windows XP for the operating system.

There are 2 entries for the same driver, where you can read a little more about it. Sadly, the link states that they were obtained from www.primax.nl/sup_col_usb19200.htm#Drivers, which is no longer available.

I found the first entry actually attempts to direct you to www.primax.nl. The second one, however, allowed me to download the file. I've scanned the download for viruses/spyware/malware, etc. and found it to be free.

I hope it helps you.

I got a colarado usb 9600 scanner - I spent hours trying to get it to work with xp but gave up. The drivers for these scanners just do not work with xp. Buy a new one (I did)

Suspicious! I have a "Packard Bell" scanner....but, looking at the files the installation created, it was obvious the it was a "Mustek" scanner, contacted Mustek, great service ...just maybe this scanner is a rebadge?
Found this on a forum, re your scanner
direct from primax support:

try the software within Windows: Imaging. *To access this, click on the Start button, go up to Programs, from there across to Accessories and then to Imaging. Click on File along the top and go down to Select Scanner. Choose your scanner and click OK. Click on File again and this time go down to Scan New. The scan dialogue box should appear enabling you to select the settings and begin to scan.

If you have a program like paintshop, omnipage, or similar, you should be able to scan from those programs

Best of luck, I tried the same. You apparently get it to work using windows 2000 driver. However you need to do some geek type wizardry. It was to clever for me.
Id bin it and get a new one that will just plug and play.
