Believe it or not, Habitat do the best quality bargian ones but they come as a set with pillowcases and a duvet cover, all egyptian cotton, three block colour choices and £35 a set. The ASDA "extra special" range is very reasonable too and they sell things separately. Personally I think it best to buy in a store because you can do the "feel appeal" test!

TK-MAXX have some excellent bedding sets - as do Matalan.
IKEA also do excellent bedding - I'm not sure that it is Egyptian cotton, but the TUPPLAR range I have found to be very good quality.
