We're thinking of doing a pottery painting party for my daughter's 6th birthday in March. You can either buy kits from a party catalogue and do it at home or else there are lots of places that you can go to.

The other really great party she went to recently they had hired this woman who was like an entertainer. But instead of just doing a magic show or whatever she brought along costumes and all the kids got dressed up and acted out sleeping beauty.

One of the best places to get party supplies is the oriental trading company they have everything a great prices the dollar stores are also great. My daughter celebrated her 13 birthday at Chuck E. Cheese. Dress up parties are great as are the make-up hair and nail parties. I guess it all depends on the childs likes at this particular age, all of them are differnt most important make it fun. 2 things I have learned are not to long and not to many friends or it gets overwhelming.

Seeing I only have smelly boys I will GLADLY answer this question. Also being a December baby myself (the 9th is better!!!). Don't forget that Walmart, Kmart, Dollar store can be your friend for anything birthday, also my husband researched and found pretty inexpensive b-day supplies on internet!!
Barbie, Bratz, etc.
Sledding party
Do a Movie night (themed)
Bowling party
Rollerskating party (80's theme)
Whatever she's interested in
Heck for that matter have a "new yrs eve party" (kid friendly of course!!!)

A lot of girls lately have been having sort of "barbie parties" where you take her and 5/6 of her friends down for a day in a beauty parlour where they get their nails, makeup and hair done by professionals and have a little party afterwards. Ive heard they really enjoy it.

Also when i was younger my parents rented out the local swimming pool and we had a pool party. I invited about 30 of my friends and we got the run of the local swimming pool. We also got a pile of crisps and sweets after the swimming.

How about a princess party. That is very popular with girls that age. You can get princess party favors, games, etc at the $ store, or at your local party store. If you have a friend that is willing to do this, go to a thrift or consignment store and get someone to dress up as a princess. You can get little tiaras at the party stores too.

You should consider a Tea Party. It's only about $250. They bring the tea sets, the costumes, the make-up and provide the games. They'll have a blast! Look in your yellow pages.

Princess parties are a lot of fun for 6 year olds.

I threw a hawaiian themed party for my cousin a few years ago when she turned 6 and her friends loved it.
they made grass skirts out of green streamers and paper flower hairclips.
Then they got leis wore the costumes they made did the limbo with hawaiian music... and had pineapple chicken kebabs and other food...
and played pass the beach ball
