I have a 6 ohm subwoofer with only one way to hook it up, a RCA cable. The only outputs on my amp are speaker level. Is there a box out there you can buy online to hook up a sub with an RCA cable to speaker level outputs? I don't want to hurt anything my amp goes down to 4 ohms. thanks

I would suggest that you just get a splitter
to add an additional RCA output from your
amplifier to run the powered subwoofer. If
your subwoofer has an RCA connection
and your sub in not powered, you will need
to get a speaker cable that has an RCA on
one end and speaker connectors on the
other end (i.e. bananas, or just bare wire).

You must determine if you sub is powered or not. Usually an RCA connector implies that the sub has an amplifier with a low-pass filter as well, but not always. If it is not powered, and you amp has an output for the sub, you should be able to find an RCA jack with bare leads that you can connect to the speaker terminal. Or you can get an RCA jack and attach leads yourself. With a 6-ohm speaker, there won't be any problem about damaging the amp. One way to know if the sub is powered or not: do you have to supply AC power to it? If so, it is a powered sub, if not it is just a speaker.

just splice and solder a new rca cable on to the end of the speaker. and in regards 2 your ohms, that'll be determined by you and how you connect your subwoofer-in a series or parrell

Try this. You need to go to radio shack and get an adapter that will convert your rca cable to a single large plug that you can run to your headphone output.
