In its most basic, grammatical sense, the word Evangelical is an adjectival derivative from the Greek word evangel ion. The usual collocation of this word is to the first four books of the New Testament or the essential message of the same relating to the Incarnation, Atonement, and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Martin Luther thought that evangelische – the German translation of "from the evangel ion" - most aptly defined the substance of his Reform with its return to Scriptural supremacy and an emphasis upon justification by grace through faith.



The term was revived in England by the ministry of John and Charles Wesley and George Whitefield in the latter half of the 18th Century. In their era, the title Evangelical became more particular as it came to define particularly those within the Church of England who laid distinctive stress on personal conversion, an authoritative view of Holy Scripture, and a call to social justice. Evangelicals took very seriously the Lord's statements "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all Thy heart, and with all Thy soul, and with all Thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

An Evangelist (Evangelicals) is one who preaches the Gospel..they may be a Pastor..the difference is they do not Pastor any Church..they go to different cities and countries..

George bush is the most famous one

some of their beliefs as i understand from my evangelical uncle

hates gays (or their sin), superior than non evangelical theists (everyone else is going to hell), one day the earth will open up and swallow the non evangelicals while the evangelicals ascend to heaven.

now do you understand why the George bush regime led us into an unjust war. no wmds, no connection to Sept 11Th, none of the hijackers were from Iraq, they were from Saudi Arabia.

George bush isn't the only one to blame, but he led the "crusade" to war.

they look forward to judgment day and have nothing to lose by waging war.

"evangelical" christians are generally strict fundamentalists (those who believe in a literal interpretation of the bible and that every word is true), and who believe their primary mission is spreading their "gospel" to others. The label encompasses a variety of sectarian christian churches as well as a large number of non-sectarian, local church groups.

Same ones who try to teach "intelligent design" and "creationism" as science in schools, are trying to outlaw abortion of any kind, consider homosexuality a grave sin, and want to have a constitutional amendment declaring marriage to be "only between one man and one woman." They want the rest of us to abide by their morals, and have little or no tolerance for any other point of view.

The likelihood is good you will be misled, fed a staggering amount of disinformation and a conditioned manner when you just as easily could've endeavored to find out what you purport to seek out.
