You'll be about 2 hours (1.5 if you drive like a maniac) from Yosemite National Park; austere in November, since the falls are low, but still magnificent.

You'll be 2 hours from San Francisco, driving the other way.

We're a minor league town; there is an orchestra, three legitimate theater groups, a "Pocket" opera company, a minor league baseball team, two small museums, a couple of night clubs and some antique shopping. We don't have anything to compare to the Bay Area or the Sierra, but you can buy a new house in a good school distirct for $300,000 less than it would cost in Orinda.

There's an 80% chance you are 18 - 26, so you'll be bored, frankly, if you are used to a big city. Without some idea of your interests, your Q is hard to answer. I don't want to suggest tennis courts if you don't play.

Ask whoever you are visiting. If it is an older relative, take him/her/them to Dry Creek Park and walk; there are 2, 3 and 5 mile options (one way) depending on where you start and end.

If you have nieces and nephews, take them to a park; Grace-Ada, Beyer or Lakewood are my favorites. That will give your aunt & uncle a break for a couple of hours and your N&N a chance to know you. It doesn't hurt your chances with women to show them you can be trusted with small children.

People in the valley typically go to the mountains or the coast. Given what you said, I'd go to Santa Cruz on the coast. It is a fun town. It can be cold and damp and foggy in the valley and warm and sunny on the coast. Check out the boardwalk and walk out to the end of the pier for great seafood. If you prefer snow, go to South Tahoe where you can ski, gamble or site see. You can do either trip as a day trip.
