Spoons, are spoons... I use plastic because i hate the sound of metal on metal... AND wooden utensils look like they are holding a TON of germs, i dunno maybe its me,...
However, a trick ive always used the wooden spoon for is to set it across the rim of the pan, over the boiling pasta..
It prevents any overflow from boiling that may occur..

Because tomato's are acidic. A metal spoon will make the sauce bitter. This will not happen with a wooden spoon.

some folks think a metal spoon reacts with the acidity in the tomato sauce and gives the sauce a metallic flavor. you don't really need a wooden spoon, a high-temp plastic one like melamine works fine.

it isn't mandatory, maybe you're working from an old recipe, and all they had then was wooden spoons. You can use a utensil that won't react to the acid in the sauce like nylon, but it might stain. Stainless steel is fine.

because as with any pasta you need wooden spoon ,cause they don't make the pasta stick to the casserole ,if you use the metal ones they brake and spoil the pasta and the sauce

Metal conducts heat, so using it wouldn't keep the temperature even, plastic leaves an unpleasant aftertaste.
