I myself am an atheist, i'm just posting this question to see what kind of misconceptions are out there.

If you want misconception I used to think it meant you were satanic. Alas I was young. Atheist is the one who is not a believer of God or deities.

Just as with the term "Christian," there is no absolute definition.
Most atheists are actually "Anti-Christians." Their belief system is based on a negative reaction to Christianity, rather than a stand alone, original analysis of the question "Does God exist?"

An atheist: a person who denies or disbelieves the existence of a supreme being or beings.
Persons not inclined toward religious belief or a particular form of religious belief.

Someone who believes that when you die you simply cease to live, nothing else + though an atheist can still be spiritual they do not believe in one almighty ruler... after this atheists beliefs differ and are their own.
i am an athiest, too. or i think i am. do i have any misconceptions?

Someone who is an "I'll believe it when I see it" kind of person. They don't like to have faith; they want to see it or experience it before they go around claiming that it exists. There's absolutely nothing wrong with that, and it's shocking the amount of people who think that there IS something wrong with it.

literally means without theism. Someone who doesn't believe in God. Contrast that with an agnostic, which is someone who simply says "I don't know WHAT the deal is"

I think that an athiest is a person who does not believe in any dieties, but believes in scientific exlinations for any occurrences wheter it is natural or unnatural.
