It doesn't seem like it should be so hard to understand that Jesus told us in John 14 (and John reminds us in 1 John 2) that we are not alone. We ALWAYS have an advocate whether Jesus is physically here or not. But, while He was here (and when He returns), people did (and will) pay all of their attention to Him. So, people would not notice the voice of the Holy Spirit until Jesus had ascended.

Reading from the NIV Bible it says:
My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

I do hope that you can understand it better from this version.
Oh, by the way it is John that wrote the gospel of John that also wrote these 3 epistles and also the book of Revelation.
In this verse he's speaking to born again believers. He's letting us know that he wrote the all the things in his epistle to let believers know that we don't have to sin but if we do sin we have Jesus to speak on our behalf, in our defense..

if i understand your question right, he said "these things I write" because this book was taken from a letter John wrote to a church he founded. I'm sorry, I can't think of which church it was at the moment. I'm not even sure if we know. hope that helps.

and yes, John wrote it. see the scripture given.

i think the author used the name of john,it wasn't actually john. the author may have been influenced by the word of john he recieved or attained directly from john. he used the name of john to give his book more authority as more people could relate to the book of john as opposed to the his own name.

Again.....brother...............what's your point....because if you are without "sin" I guess you can start throwing your stones.
Your questions feel like an attack and if you are a Christian, I would hope you would change your hearts motivation to preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified and that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
