I am a dental assistant and someone who had dry socket. It is very painful but your dentist should of given you pain medication. Dry socket is when you have problems clotting in the effected area. The dentist should be putting medication on gauze and putting it in the hole were the tooth was removed. You should do this every couple of days and the dentist should change the dressing and put new ones in your mouth. This will help you heal. When ever you get bottom teeth pulled it hurts more because of the bone. The medication he puts in should give you relief from pain. Do not take aspirin because it thins your blood and you will blood more. Take motrin, or my favorite is advil liquid gels. It works great. Make sure you eat soft foods and not to hot because it will irritate the area. You will feel alot better once you get the medication in the effected area.

From what ive been told, dry socket would case you intense, almost unbearable pain. If this is what you are experiencing, then you need to get back to the dentist asap. I recommend getting there first thing in the morning, get there before even the employees if you can. Once they see you are in pain they will most likely get you seen right away. when you call and make an emergency appt they are unable to see how much pain you are in and tend to put it off as though its not as important as it really is. I needed to see the dentist today and I arrived 30 minutes before the staff did. When the dentist pulled up and saw me in my car almost in tears he brought me inside and I was the first patient he saw.

You need to get to the dentist for that. They will clean the area add pack the hole with medication. I had that when I got my wisdom teeth out. It hurts like hell until you get back to the dentist. Then it will be instant relief.
