during WWII, mothers of the sons fighting for U.S. prayed for their sons & mothers of the sons fighting for Germany prayed for their sons. If God despises war but loves everyone then what side was he on?(& don't say neither or both 'coz obviously he had to choose who to let live & who to take the life of.)

The obvious answer would be that God was on the side of 'good', that being the allied forces. But even the term 'good' is relative, since some of those German mothers probably thought their sons were fighting for a 'good' cause also.

Either way, the influence of Christianity often causes us to assume that God is up there determining outcomes, choosing life for some and death for others. It is also possible, however, that the war came about because neither of the sides involved was in touch with their true God. We often claim self-centred pursuits in the name of "our Lord."

I have never heard that God was in any ones Army. I didn't even know that He uses a gun. It was man that caused that great evil not God.. He gave us free will and then we use it to kill each other. And you ask which side God hated and which side he loved.. It nonsense .God never said that he loved any Nation save Israel. And He hasn't been dealing with her since 70 AD. It's the hearts and souls of mankind He loves, that He died for. Jim

Let me put it this way. The Nazi's were killing His chosen people. And yes, God does allow war when it is necessary. WWII would be a case where war was needed.

Excellent point. People don't realize one thing about prayer. In many situations a group of people are praying for one outcome and a different group are praying for just the opposite. It boils down to this, the same thing happens with or without prayer. But prayer is one form of hope that religion sells. Go into the rosary business (high mark up).

I think if you look at all the deaths from WWII it would be obvious that sin won. Don't blame God for sin he wasn't the one who put it here.

I think if he had to choose a side it would be the side fighting for his chosen people.

You are asking how does God decide when you die? People don't just die during wartime, you know. Millions of people died today through old age, cancer, sickness, accidents, etc.

Only God knows the answer to that question. Ask him when you see him.

There is no God.

but supposing there was one, He would be on the side fighting against the side that carted trainloads of children into gas chambers.
