I went out on a 1st date with a guy in a restaurant of his own choosing. We have never met prior to this, just phone calls. During the date he told me "Had I known you look like that I would have not brought you here, this place is not that great.". I don't quite undertand what he meant by that.

Sounds like he would have tried to inpress you more if he had known you were better looking. But to me thats a jerk kind of a comment. I mean, yea it sounds like a compliment, but he was judging you before he even met you.
