go to the grocery store's frozen food isle and look around. if you really search the grocery stores i bet you could find some that will be better than experimenting on your own.
another excellent option would be to just start checking out the seafood resteraunts and i bet you could find one that serves salmon patties.
a third option would be to just walk through the neighborhood every evening sniffing the air. when you smell salmon knock on the door of the house that the scent appears to be coming from and ask if that's what they are making. if it is..... invite yourself over for dinner.
there! i beat the person who offered 2 recipies... i offered not 2 but 3 options.. :)

I have used several different types of recipes, because I love salmon patties. I have finally found a recipe that I absolutely love. The red bell peppers add a nice texture to the patties and flavor. This makes enough for 4. I usually double this recipe to feed my household. 1 6 oz pouch of pink Salmon (no bones or need to drain this) 1/4 c finely chopped green onions 1/4 c mayonnaise 1 TBSP freshly squeezed lemon juice 1/2 tsp. garlic powder and dash black pepper 1/3 cup finley chopped red bell pepper 1 egg, beaten 1 c seaonsed bread crumbs 3 TBSP butter 1/4 tsp. season salt Combine first seven ingredients in bowl.Stir in Chicken of the Sea Salmon, egg and 1/3 cup breadcrumbs. Form mixture into 4 balls. Roll salmon balls in remaining breadcrumbs; flatten into cakes about 1/2 inch thick. In skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Fry 3 to 4 minutes or unitl golden brown.

Have alternate between these two recipes.
ENJOY!!!!
SALMON PATTIES
Ingredients
****************
1 can salmon, drained, boned and flaked
1 can (10 1/2 oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup fine, dried bread crumbs
2 eggs
3 tablespoons chopped pimiento
2 teaspoons minced onion
1/16 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
2 tablespoons butter
Procedure
***************
Combine all ingredients except butter (can use margarine – it doesn't burn so easily). Turn griddle to medium heat. Melt butter. Using 1/4 cup for each patty, cook until as brown as (about 5 minutes per side).
We enjoy it with an egg cream tartar sauce, but it can be served with tarter sauce.
------------------AND...
LEMONY SALMON PATTIES:
1 can (14-3/4 ounces) pink salmon, drained, skin and bones removed
3/4 cup milk
1 cup soft bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten
1 Tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 teaspoon minced onion
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
LEMON SAUCE:
2 Tablespoons butter
4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
3/4 cup milk
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Combine the first nine ingredients; mix well. Spoon into eight greased muffin cups, using 1/4 cup in each. Bake at 350° for 45 minutes or until browned.
Meanwhile, melt butter in a saucepan; stir in the flour to form a smooth paste. Gradually stir in milk; bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook for 2 minutes or until thickened. Remove from the heat; stir in lemon juice, salt and cayenne. Serve over patties. Yield: 4 servings.

My Mom makes them like this - - -
Debone the salmon (personally, I take all the black slimy stuff off too!)
Add egg, crushed up cracker, salt and pepper.
You want the mixture sort of dry but moldable that will stick together. Fry them in an olive oil or vegetable oil so the salmon flavor comes thru.
We always have them with Mac and Cheese. The runny kind not the powder kind! And green beans.
Enjoy!

The best way I have done them, is equal amounts of mashed potato and mashed salmon and bind them with egg and then cover them in breadcrumbs and fry for 10 mins, turning.
Serve with vegetables or salad or pasta or rice
