Your confused
And Dumb!!
I know its hard to type on the computer saying that you promote peace and maybe just maybe holding a sign once in a while.
After you have spent a year in the desert away from your family and dodging bullets daily, maybe someone would think about giving you lazy *** a discount!

Let's clear this up first off Our discounts are not huge and certain items are even marked up. People are fooled cause we do not pay sales tax however we do pay a service charge that is very comparable to the sales tax you pay. We do get a slight discount but also get paid so that if you have a family and a home most of the time it is all you can do just to meet the bills let alone have to go out in town to shop for everything. People need to change the misconception that just because your name has a rank and a branch behind it that you have money. They also need to stop worrying about the discounts we get and how unfair it is, and start worrying about paying the military a true living wage!

Well, not every Military profession, or Job if you like, is a frontline soldier. Therefore not all of them kill.
And your first sentence is kind of hard to grasp, it sounds like your asking why people who give their lives to promote peace don't get discounts.... but if they gave their life, they are dead and therefore cannot use any discounts.
But that has to be a wrong interpretation, so I will go with what you are meaning. People who devote their lives towards working on peace DO get discounts, perhaps not from every day businesses just by showing their I.D. cards, but they are sure to get discounts in the areas they live/work in. You just don't heard about it in the news, because it's not a big sell.
Sadly, this planet has grown up with warfare since the dawn of creatures on it. The Human Species is just one among Billions that live on the planet and will eventually be gone from the planet.... whether it's from a killer asteroid, warfare amongst ourselves that destroy the planets habitability, or when the sun finally gives out and life in this solar system ceases to exist.

Military people don't really make a whole lot of money.... look at the pay charts on the web even for a highly educated officer. Its way less than they could be making on the outside. Not to mention moving all of the time and ultimately being in harms way. Those who promote peace should be lauded as well and are often the voice of reason, thats what makes America great. But unfortunately there are those who must suffer to be ready to ensure these freedoms as the rest of the world is not so elevated. So 10% off a hotel bill is not a whole lot to wonder about. To have what makes america both reviled and admired..... people who will fight for home and hearth.

Soldiers get tax free, SOMETIMES discounted shopping at their PX and commissary. (Though tax free on a $50 pair of jeans is still a $50 pair of jeans, and usually it's either that stuff or a level of generic below Wal-Mart's generic brands, so take that into consideration.) On the civilian market, if a business chooses to offer a military discount for their goods and services, it's because they (GASP!) support our troops. What a freaking concept, rewarding people to put themselves at risk for physical harm and give up literally YEARS with their families to serve a cause greater than themselves. When is the last time a war protester was forced from their home and shot at for a year at a time to hold up their cardboard sign?

Military folks don't get paid that much to begin with.
They get to shop in the PX (I think thats it) and get discounts on goods there. I'm sure that is partially a subsidy from the gov + the ability to buy in huge volumes yielding lower prices. I'm sure the gov doesn't make much off the stuff military folks can buy at their stores.
In the private sector-- businesses are free to provide whatever discounts they feel appropriate to military folks. Again, many do not get paid that much especially when you consider how many of them risk their lives in service to this country.
get over it dude-- military folks have enough to deal with.

The promotion of peace is a noble cause, but in most cases it doesn't subject it's practitioners to the same level of danger (loss of life and limb) that military service does.

You are retarded, what do you mean give your life to promote peace? I'd like to see you put yourself in the danger that our soldiers face everyday. You are just a pansy peace loving hippie who does not respect our soldiers for what they do for you. What have you done for them? And don't give me crap about you've been protecting us from wars that would've happened, because people don't give crap about what you think, so you haven't done anything. So that is why you don't get a discount, and why you don't deserve one either, so quit complaining and think about what the soldiers do for you.

By your estimation, everyone should be getting extra discounts. Anyone could argue they "give their lives to peace".
I argue that the men and women of our Armed Forces give their lives to peace. Can you imagine the mass mahem there would be in this world were it not for the existence of military forces? Terrorists would be hitting us left and right. It is, in part, the threat and might of our military forces that help keep them subdued. Were it not for the military, war would run rampant. If you don't agree, just imagine what a city would be like without a police force...now apply that to the world.
With as much sacrifice as our military and their families make, and as little as we get paid for it, I don't believe anyone should begrudge us a measly 10% discount off our cell phone bill. My husband could be making double to triple his salary in the civilian world for his career, but he chooses to serve his country instead.
