If you can cough, breathe, or talk, it's not choking and you'll do more damage than good. Otherwise, do abdominal thrusts. You can use the edge of a chair for this. Or, you always have the option of calling 911. If it were real choking, though, you would probably pass out in the time it took to get the question uploaded, so good luck.

And your first thought was to log onto the internet, ask this question, and wait for an answer? Idiot...
If you are choking alone and can breathe a bit, try to cough it up. Your cough will be the most effective thing to remove the object.
Call 911 first, and get help on the way, of course.
If you can't move any air at all, call 911. Most cities have enhanced 911, where they can automatically locate your address even if you can't talk. Not all communities have this, though. It's worth it to find out beforehand which type of 911 is in your community.
Is there a neighbor close by, i.e. next door? If so, knock on his or her door, and have him call 911 (if your community does not have enhanced 911, or if you call 911 and the dispatcher does not appear to know where you live). That way, if you become unconscious, there will be at least one person with you, and that person will be able to help the ambulance locate your address (especially important if your community does not have enhanced 911).
You need to perform the Heimlick on yourself, if you are alone, choking, and unable to move any air. Find a chair at waist level, and ram a corner of the back of it into your stomach, between the bottom of your ribcage and your navel, in the center of your abdomen.Use an upward motion. This might create an artificial cough, which hopefully will expell the object. Note: this will hurt like heck, and you may injure yourself. Use at your own risk.
Hope this helps...

OMG if I was there I would do the heimlich maneuver on you. Just remember if a person chokes they can die after 4 - 6 minutes because the brain needs oxygen

You and your cat are very unlucky to have both had choking episodes so close to one another. And also very talented to be able to type whilst choking! There is probably no point in giving you an answer as to how to cure yourself, because you have probably died. What I would suggest is next time ring an ambulance......... you pratt!!

If you can't breathe, why the hell are sitting at the computer instead of getting some medical help?
