Do you know if she was bred? If you think she wasn't, then when you let her out in the yard, put her on a leash and when she is finished doing her thing, bring her right back in. Do not let her out unsupervised. Males around a female in heat are very sneaky and will do almost anything to get to the female. If you think he did get her, take her to the vet and see if they can tell (usually about 2 weeks or so after mating). Then you make a choice - let her have them or have her spayed. There is a shot that the vet can give her which will abort the puppies but it starts the heat cycle all over again for another 3 weeks. It is not smart to let a female in heat go out ANYWHERE unattended.

1st off take her to the vets if you want to know if she is pregnant, 2nd off If you didn't want her to have mutts maby you should have done something about it, like keep her away from other male dogs and made sure she couldn't get out of the yard or males couldn't get in. 3rd off If you suspect she is pregnant, and don't want her to have mutts, you can take her to the vets before it is too late and have her pregnancy terminated. And 4th but most important Have her spayed!

If she is in heat, you do not let her outside on her own. If you cannot tell if she is in heat, SPAY or you will end up with mutts.

I'm not sure how to tell if shes pregnant but to keep her from getting pregnant if shes not already..go buy her a doggy diaper...they're not that expensive and they work wonders!
