The 4.7L V8 Toyota uses in the Sequoia and Tundra is an Interference Fit engine. It was designed that way as a high compression engine to give more power. So yes, if the timing belt breaks it will most likely result in engine damage.

In most vehicles if the time belt breakse it will not run. You can't start it,becuase there is no way to regulate the compressions. If it runs, it probably isn't a broken timing belt.

You've got a belt that will cause severe damage depending on the speed traveling when broken.In your case,you should replace it every 90,000 miles or 6 years,whichever comes first.

toyota motors are real good engines if your timing belt breaks it will cque thing up on any cars or truck
