When I run my fingers close to my scalp, I get deadskin/leftover conditioner under my fingernails, and my hands feel slightly greasy. I shower everyday, so Im not sure what to do to fix this. Is there a good home remedy or store bought solution for this? Thanks!!

I had the same problem and my hair dresser told me to shampoo with about a tablespoon of baking soda mixed in with my shampoo. Just do it occasionally. It strips all the excess conditioners and stuff from your hair which could be why you feel greasy. I also use head and shoulders for dry scalp once a week. I wash my hair about 5 days a week. Good luck cause I know there isn't much that makes you feel worse than your hair not being what you want.

It is perfectly normal for your sebaceous glands to excrete sebum (That's the oil you feel on your scalp.) It is also normal for your skin to exfoliate and if you scratch your scalp with your nails you will scrape off some epithelial cells (If it is excessive you may have a scalp condition like Eczema or Psoriasis. If this were the case you would have large, red, flaky patches of scalp. It's pretty hard to miss on sight so I think you're OK. ). One thing you can do to help eliminate any dry skin from the scalp is to purchase a natural bristle brush and use it to brush your scalp....not your HAIR but your scalp. Make small sections and systematically roll the brush against the skin. Once you have loosened the dry skin on your entire head go ahead and shampoo/condition normally. I don't know what hair type you have but those who either live in a dry climate, like here in Las Vegas where I live, or who have thick, coarse hair tend to have more problem scalps. It is especially prominent in the nape of the neck as this is the spot on the head that is the warmest.

Hope that helps!

Showering everyday is fine but don't shampoo everyday. You're drying your scalp out. When you're in the shower make sure you get all the conditioner out. Theres products in the store for dry scalp.

if you're getting dead skin, try an anti-dandruff shampoo for a few days or a clarifying shampoo to get rid of any excess debris (dead skin, conditioner, any chemicals and/or dyes) in your hair.

also, consider washing your hair only every other day with one of those shampoos to allow the oils from your scalp to disperse and run throughout your hair and allow your scalp to moisten and therefore, no more dry scalp.

hmmmmmmm well you can always buy stuff that is good for oily scalp.... fructis sells it, or you can use a dandruff shampoo...... like head and shoulders, if you hair is greasy, only use conditioner on the ends and not the roots, my hair dresser told me that.
