~Has it occurred to you that the heaven myth may be as bogus as the christ myth?

The Christians will say "Yes." But many people, other than Christians, believe in heaven and that they will get there. and why shouldn't they - if they are good people?

I believe that Jesus was here - and that he was a very enlightened being - but I don't believe that he was the only son of God and that belief in him is the only way to get to heaven.

I believe that heaven is a state of mind - more than a place. When my kid giggles - or I notice a beautiful Indian Summer day - or I receive a hug filled with love - THAT is heaven - and it doesn't really have much to do with Jesus.

Meanwhile - I get up everyday - and try to be a nice person and do my best. We'll see what happens after my "human journey" is over.

as a modified christian, i've been waitin 4 this question 4 a while:

christ's sufferin on the cross was the closing of the karma of his soul, possibly 4rm a previous lifetime.

he aided us 2 perceive how we can heal our souls, by takin responsibility 4 our actions right down 2 our intentions.

EVOLUTION 2 the next stage of existence is dependant on us actualising our negative karma with understandin and accurate response.

christianity owes the perception of christ being the only way 2 heaven to an attempt 2 understand the significance of what jesus did on earth.

those left behind knew the work he did was essential 2 mankind's evolution, but they didnt know how. in an attempt to understand, religious scriptures and rumours of the christ's significance were consulted.

the only issue with religious scriptures is, once something is written, there is fear (which is un-Godly) 2 change it. once a fixed interpretation is accepted, this fear heightens. the by-product of such fear can be seen by the many factions and divides that exist within christianity.

these scriptures, once interpretted, brought the vision of christ being the one who would take away our "sins". the interpretation/scrpitures omitted the fact that we r responsible 4 evolving 4rm our shortcomings.

in short, the answer is no!

Please feel free 3 email me 4 more info...:-)

That is what the creator of heaven and earth said.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.
3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Remember Jesus prayed, "Our Father which art in Heaven..." The Father is in Heaven and we can't get there except by Jesus only.

Religious supposed to be a belief that will cultivate us to be a better person. If the reason for belief in an religious is to go to the heaven....then I will advise you not to go to the heaven, as there will be many selfish and materialist "people" up there. So, why don't just stay at the earth and create your own heaven.

If God is a liar, then there are many ways to Heaven. But let man be a liar and God the truth that speaks no lie. Christ said, " I am the way, the Truth and Life, no one comes to the Father except through me." I dare any one to falsify the word of Christ which is the Word of God. I dare any one to renounce the Christ and follow other ways to Heaven besides Jesus Christ Himself. I am not ashamed of Jesus, I believe in Jesus as my Savior and the Lord God, and with my mouth I confess He is A Lord to the Glory of God, without whom there is no salvation.

Yes! The bible says the only way to get to heaven is by accepting Jesus Christ into your life. It's a prayer that you make
before God. Jesus went and died on the cross for your and everybody''s sin. The bible is the only book that still exist even after all two thousand years and it is inspired by God. The men
who wrote the bible were lead by the spirit of God. For all those
persons that say that God is not real. Just go by yourself somewhere and ask God to reveal Himself you.

many people say they believe in God. Even Satan BELIEVES in God. To accept what Christ did at the Cross for you is the ONLY way to Salvation.
JN 3:3 Jesus said 'I assure you, unless you are born again, you will not see the Kingdom of Heaven'

Note to monkeydaddy:

I'm sure you mom has mentioned this verse to you and it's SOOO important:

Ephesians 2:8,9
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast

Essentially what this means is God is offering a free GIFT of Salvation. You cannot and WILL NOT ever be able to EARN a gift. This is why being good will not gain entrance to heaven.
Please consider this most important Bible passage.

Let's see...
According to the Catholics, you have to believe in jesus, be baptized as a catholic, be confirmed, have communion, do all the other sacraments, and go to confession regularly to get to heaven.

According to the Baptists, you have to believe in jesus, be baptized *by immersion* (different from Catholics), and a number of other things.

According to the Mormons, you have to believe in jesus, be baptized by immersion, go to the Mormon temple and undergo a series of ripped-off-from-the-freemasons rituals, and know the secret password and handshake to get into the "top" level of heaven.

And those are just three of the thousands of christian sects, all of which have their own "rules" for getting into heaven. If we start on the non-christian religions, this could take all day...

I think you get the point. Every group makes up their own rules for getting into the best area in the afterlife -- and there's very little agreement among them. Extremely confusing -- which one is right? They can't *all* be right, since they're all so different...what if the catholics are right, but you're a mormon, and since you never went to confession you're going to hell? Oh, no! :)

Since there's no evidence of any kind that there is a god, or an afterlife, or a heaven...it's pretty clear that these "paths to heaven" are all made up, in an effort to control followers' behavior in THIS life (by making them fear not going to heaven if they misbehave). Much easier to just accept the evidence, and know that when this life is over, it's over -- nothing after it. Enjoy it while you can :)
