Is it just me? I mean, in an emergency situation, I would be on the phone with my vet before I would ever consider getting on the internet for answers.

Does anyone else have their vet on speed dial? Are you on a first name basis with your vet? I had a geriatric dog for a couple years, plus I used to work at my vet, but still! My neighbor doesn't even know his veterinarian's credentials!

Does anyone else find this surprising??

I didn't mean "best friend" literally.

My vet
treats all 4 of my babies with respect and consideration. She does'nt poke and pull and jerk on them while they're muzzled. She takes her time with each doing all she can to put them at ease before they're examined. She knows not to send someone to take them from my sight for any reason that's not absolutely necessary. She's in total agreement that we don't take our kids to the hospital, hand them to a nurse and leave until we're called to retrieve the child and we should'nt do it to our pets either.
I find it nothing short of sheer ignorance that people don't call their vet before they do anything. And yes,my vet is on speed-dial.And I carry her emergency number with me at all times in case something comes up when we're not at home.

Yes...you're the first person I have ever heard of with a vet on speed dial...and I have worked on cattle ranches and around many animals in my life...

I think the world of our vet. She truly loves all her "patients" and does her best to ease their fears, pains, etc. She answers all my questions and takes her time with our dog. She even calls him "handsome". I love it!

You bet I would call her before I went on the internet.

No, my dog's vet is not my best friend. My dog's vet is rather odd and has peculiar habits and I'm thinking of changing to another practice.

yes, i trust my vet. even tho he is 15 miles from my home and there is one right near my home, i trust only him. he has treated all my dogs and cats. i call him in an emergency.

i would not continue to take my dogs to a vet i could not feel good about. they are too important to me.
