Make sure to toss straight up and swing when it is at it's highest point it will take several try but as long as you toss straight up and hit the ball hard through the middle it will go over.

Everyone has her own style, but I like to find the valve at the bottom of the volleyball with my middle finger before I toss it(helps if you're serving a floater so it wobbles a little more in the air and is trickier to pass). Then I toss it up to a height that I can easily hit it without lowering my arm when I swing. Make sure to follow through enough to get it over the net. Remember, however, that it's not a spike!

1. Position yourself 3 long strides from the end line
2. Take one long step forward with your left leg
3. During your second step toss the ball high and in front of you. You should toss the ball high enough so that you can hit the ball after your third step
4. Take your third step and then plant your right foot behind your left and jump
5. Make contact with the ball on its decent and hit the top-center of the ball
6. Allow yourself to land on or over the end line with your momentum moving you straight towards the net

Tips:

1. Focus on balance. If you find yourself falling on your landing or landing off the right then you are overthrowing the ball
2. If you are landing short of the line you are under tossing the ball. The most important thing in this serve is timing
3. Try tossing the ball with backspin to get the desired top spin at contact
4. The best way to learn is try a one step approach, then two and finally three steps. This will help you focus on your toss:-)

Strike it with your fist in an underhand motion if u r just a casual player; if ur on a team the coach will teach u an overhand serve.

Keep your serving arm straight. Work on your toss. Your toss shouldn't be more than a few feet above your head. Swing straight forward, and put your whole body into it. Swing at it hard, like you're mad at it!

overhand is how they serve on a team usually. Throw it up in front of you a little... not too high but high enough to be able to hit it with your open hand and then follow through with you arm. it is easier to show you how to do it than to explain in words. even though i suck at overhand serving.

hold the ball with your right hand on top and your left hand on bottom(if your a righty) at shoulder length. start with your left foot forward...if you were to drop the ball it should land across from your left foot...with your left hand throw it up straight and point with your left hand..swing with your right arm and make sure you hit it with the ball of your palm and hit at an upward angle...and when your hitting step with your right foot and sort of drag it..make sure you follow throught..if you need a little more detail or if you have questions email me: hugs_n_kisses_37@yahoo.com
