Am going to see "Phantom of Opera" on Friday and want to eat in restaurant in vicinity of theatre. Nothing too expensive but not a burger bar/pizza hut either.

I just love Strada in Panton Street. Their pizzas are lovely and far from being like the Pizza hut crap. They also have a more Italian menu.

Otherwise, there are plenty of eateries in the same street. Lovely Moroccan, Korean... and there is even Wagamama nearby (norris street, off haymarket)

Whatever you do, avoid the angus / aberdeen steak house places, they are so rubbish. Also TFI Fridays is always full of kids.
Quaglinos on Bury street is always a favourite of mine and very walkable from the theatre. It is a Conran restaurant and is huge so you will probably get a table. It has the wow factor and lovely food. They are not the cheapest but it's not that unreasonable if you avoid the caviar and champagne! You don't want to spoil your evening with a horrible meal.

You've got Chinatown rught next to you. Have a wander round it, you'll see the reviews posted in the windows. There are some good restaurants there as there's so much competition. One tip, don't go for the 17 courses for a fiver - rubbish.

The Wolesley on Piccadilly is one I love. Also, Tiger Tiger on Haymarket is nice. Think there is a Garfunkels on Leicester Square which is OK too and TGI Fridays is there as well.
