Cats can get pregnant as early as six months old. They in fact do not die due to having had kittens, the prolong their lives. Our cat got pregnant at six months of age and had one kitten, we then had her spayed and she had no more kittens, but she lived to the ripe old age of 19 years.

If the cat's a year old, she's not pregnant early. Most female cats come into their first heat around 6-7 months of age. That's when they're first able to get pregnant. They're fairly close to adult maturity by then, though usually their personalities and energy levels remain kittenish until they're around 2.

No. As long as the cat is spayed the cat should be fine. Not spaying the cat can lead to various problems with the reproductive tract that CAN eventually lead to early death.

The question is--- can you provide a home for her babies? You shouldn't be taking in a pregnant cat if you know you can't find homes for them, or you just "hope" that you can.

Also think about how much it will cost to raise a litter of kittens. They don't stay cute and playful for ever.

Food for thought.

The cat will be okay unless there is something else going on that you're not aware of.
