I absolutely love the temple piercing i think it's beautiful but i've only heard negative things about them, such as they always surface or the always get infected or bad scars, has anyone ever had success with one?

to build on anti-you's answer, the skin across the top of the head is tightly stretched and not very deep - this causes pressure on a surface piercing which results in the jewellery being forced out much much quicker than a deeper surface piercing in fleshy skin.

The reason you hear so few success stories is because there really aren't any. As a piercer, I won't do it plain and simple because they reject, they get infected and leave nasty scars. Also people usually want surface piercings in poor locations (fore arms, hands, face). Any spot that is prone and exposed to excess movement, pressure from any type of clothing, areas high in dirt and body oils is going to pose a problem. Another issue I have is people don't take well enough care of surface piercings and I'm not willing to be blamed for stupidity.

Surface piercings are typically temporary and there are few things that can be done to increase their lifespan, though its never a guarantee they will last. Someone suggested doing them yourself, I am telling you not to. As with all piercings, its easy to screw up and cause unnecessary pain and bleeding. I would always suggest something else instead of a surface piercing.

Here is some information about them, read it and then if you still want it done, you will have a long extensive search ahead of you for someone HIGHLY qualified and skilled to do it. Most piercers will do surface piercings because you are paying them, they don't' care what happens once you leave the shop, so keep that in mind.

my brother has a temple piercing.
you have to make sure the place specializes in it, or you can just do it yourself.
what they do is they take a very sharp skinny needle, and stick it in and out of your temple. then they leave that their for a couple minutes, then stick in a bar.
you have to leave that in for 6 months before you can take it out again.
then you can buy special bars/rings for it.

good luck!
