The Lt. Governor of NC is Perdue. The Adjutant General of the NC National Guard is Major General (2 stars) William Ingram, Jr.

The highest rank of any National Guard is a 2 star MG Adjutant General.

1 Star - Brigadier General (BG)
2 Stars - Major General (MG)
3 Stars - Lieutenant General (LTG)
4 Stars - General (GEN)

5 Stars - General of the Army
5 Stars - Fleet Admiral
5 Stars - General of the Air Force

5 Stars are no longer authorized and the 5 star rank was only used during WW II.
There were only five 5 star Army Generals; Omar Bradley being the last.
There were only five 5 star Admirals; William "Bull" Halsey being the last.
And there was only one 5 star Air Force General; Henry "Hap" Arnold who earned his 5th star in the Army when it was still called the US Army Air Corp. He retained his 5 star rank when it was changed to the USAF in 1947.

There are no surviving 5 star officers. Omar Bradley was the last to survive and died in the early 1970's.
