I've found that it helps. Up until a couple weeks ago, I was a Christian butt (Go to http://board.christianrock.net/board/weblog_entry.php?e=11168 to know what I'm talking about, it's pretty amusing.)
It started with a Bible study. Now I'm in two, and going to church every Sunday...and I am SO on fire for God! I feel like I'm just so full of LOVE...and I know it's because of church, and my fellowship with other Christians who are amazing people.
So yes, it has helped me remarkably.

It can and should be a large part of a Christians education. It must be a church where the bible is clearly taught.
You have to know what NOT to learn at church. Religion, and faith in man are traps you can fall into in a church setting.
I hardly think that what goes on in most churches on any given Sunday is what God meant when He said, "Forsake not the gathering of the saints," and "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy," but it's still good practice to be a functioning part of a bible based church. Just remember, the people there, including the leadership, are just people like you and me, and one can be misinformed or misled at a church just as easily as anywhere else, so make sure you hold what you learn in church up to the light of God's Word.

absolutely. We should be able to sacrifice a couple hours of sleep every sunday to worship Jesus. But church is not a building; it's the community of believers. In this community, you grow in fellowship with others, and you gain accountablility. If you think of it that way, and not as just some "duty," then yes, it is a huge part of christian growth.

Religion is the practical application of spiritual things into
our daily lives. Associating with positive people. Reading
motivational and inspirational material. Meditating, (quiet time),
for dealing with stress. And prayer, which keeps the lines of
communication open to our Creator.

no, you can go to a police station and not be a police. your walk with god is about your prayer (communication) with god. it also has to do with your learning about him, this doesnt require church as you can read the bible any day of the week, you can get into little study sessions with peers, church does work too. however i find more hypocrits there then not.

I do. The Bible says that we should gather together to build up and support one another. I have never read anywhere in the Bible a mention of a "lone wolf Christian".
