a sociopath doesn't feel much of anything, and has practically no conscience. They can kill without thinking, feeling, or regret later. They are numb and dead and souless.
I live w/ one, they are horrifying versions of humans.
I can't tell you how to deal w/ them but to get the hell away from them. And stay away. Best advice I can tell you.
Yes, he's capable of murder, if he's smart enough to know how to do it.
Get a restraining order against him if u can. It'd be 4 the best.
good luck

I am sorry to hear, that you've experienced a painful marriage to a sociopath (or psychopath, it's synonymous). Contrary to what some of the other answerers think not all psychopaths are murdering madmen. But they are, never the less, able to inflict severe emotional pain on those around them.
I'd recommend the book "without conscience" by Robert Hare, it might very well answer all your questions.
If you fear for your own, or your family's, well-being, you should contact the police, better once too often...
You might consider making an appointment with a licensed psychologist, to talk about your experiences and worries. One very common result from having close contact with a psychopath is feelings of shame, embarrassment, humiliation, anger and bewilderment; and it might do you good with some help in sorting out these feelings, and finding out who you are now, after the relationship has ended.
With my best wishes...

Yes and Yes. Fear him. A sociopath is capable of murder because a sociopath does not care about anyone else. They learn to fake "feelings" to have a normal life (like marrying you) but in fact they don't feel those feelings. Also, he can get worse (sicker) as time goes on.

People who cannot contain their urges to harm (or kill) people repeatedly for no apparent reason are assumed to suffer from some mental illness. However, they may be more cruel than crazy, they may be choosing not to control their urges, they know right from wrong, they know exactly what they're doing, and they are definitely NOT insane. In such cases, they usually fall into one of three types that are typically considered aggravating circumstances in addition to their legal guilt -- antisocial personality disorder (APD), sociopath, or psychopath -- none of which are the same as insanity or psychosis. APD is the most common type, afflicting about 4% of the general population. Sociopaths are the second most common type, with the American Psychiatric Association estimating that 3% of all males in our society are sociopaths and Stout (2005) estimating 4% of the population. Psychopaths are rare, found in perhaps 1% of the population.
