My Mom says that I can't get my ears pierced until I am 16. That is way too old I think. She also gives me a real hard time about things I want to wear. Are there any other girls who have this problem? What have you told your Mom that helps?

Hmm, tricky. Try find out what exactly it is about pierced ears and certain clothes that your mom doesn't like. Then see where you can compromise.

For example, maybe she doesn't want you wearing big gold hoop earrings because she feels they look slutty, or she's afraid heavy earrings will drag your earlobes down. You could compromise by only wearing stud earrings or ones you pick out together.

With clothes, moms are often worried that their daughters dress too sexy, and that other people will get the wrong idea. Or she doesn't like that the clothes are so trendy or poorly made that you won't wear them for very long, and the money will be wasted. Try to work out the few things that bug her the most, and then find a solution to them, like setting a clothing budget for the year, making all clothing certain stores forbidden or approved, agreeing that skirts have to cover the thigh but can show the knee, etc.

Your mom may be just giving you a chance to truly make up your mind and be sure that you really want your ears pierced. I had mine pierced only to discover that I hate wearing earrings. What a colossal waste of time, never mind the pain one endures. The things you want to wear may not be to your mom's liking because some of the clothes are rather unbecoming a young lady to wear. Remember she is just looking out for you. She isn't giving you a hard time she is just sparing you some unnecessary problems.

hey--i got my first one when i was four, now i have three holes. Just try to prove to your mom that you are responsible enough to take care of pierced ears (though you dont have to do that much). Ask her what her reasoning is and maybe you can make some sort of deal, like if you can make a commitment for like a month or something ( for me it would be to like change the cat litter everyday or keep my room clean for a month) something like that and maybe she will let you get them done. If health is the issue, you can get them done at the dermatologist or the dr, though most places esp places in the mall are very safe and clean. Also how old are you now?

My dad told me the same thing- and i had to wait. But it was worth it, we made a deal that if i waited i could get one piercing a year after i turned 16. I got all the facts on piercing first and showed them to him to make hime feel better about it, that might help if your mom is worried about infections. Good luck!

You can't let your mom's rules ruin your relationship with her. I had this same problem with my mom when I wanted to dye my hair. Rather than fighting about it like a kid, I decided to handle it like an adult. She eventually gave in when I threw in a little bribe. I said "Mom, if I get great grades this semester and do all the chores I'm supposed to do can I dye my hair?" My mom agreed because she never thought that I'd do it. After a month of studying my tail off and washing dishes until my hands were like prunes she let me dye my hair. Show her that you are mature enough to make this type of decision and she is bound to give in. : ) Good Luck!

tell her that you want to grow up with her support but that she has to let you have little consessions every now and then..you dont mention how old you are, but if you are over 14 then i think its reasonable.....

my daughter is 12 adn wants her ears pierced now, i think its an ok age to get it done, so long as she doesnt wear dangly earings i dont mind.....

i dont have my ears pierced, though i do have my nose pierced.

Don't you remember being young once too, Mom? At least I'm not asking you for permission to pierce my lip or nipples! I'm a young adult that wants to wear earrings.

I had that prblem when I was younger. I told my mom to let me make my own mistakes and let me be me. I went behind her back when I was 15 and got my belly-button and nose peirced. She was mad of course. I learned that I have to make sure that they were kept really really clean, I got an infection in my bellybutton and that was something that helped me learn. Since I was 13 my mom let me make my own decisions.
